They are meant to signal progressiveness and demonstrate equality. But do the terms extend beyond rhetoric? What are the patterns of thinking and structures in North-South partnerships? What are the perspectives of the so-called southern partners on cooperation?<\/p>\n

In the publication “Das M\u00e4rchen von der Augenh\u00f6he” (“The Fairy Tale of Eye Level”), glokal e.V.<\/i> has brought together ten activists, committed people and NGO workers from the Global South and North to shed light on different aspects of NGO structures, school partnerships, voluntary services and solidarity work. A theoretical introduction makes the historical-political framework tangible, and a reflection and practice guide supports the analysis and transformation of the reader’s own engagement.<\/p>\n

Equality and partnership are terms that are readily and frequently used in the North-South-, solidarity- or ‘development’-cooperation. They indicate progressiveness and demonstrate equal status. However, do these terms actually transcend the rethoric level? What kind of thought and structural patterns are the basis of North-South partnerships? What perspectives do the so-called Southern partners have on the collaboration?<\/span><\/p>\n

The publication “The Fairy Tale of Equality” by
\n glokal e.V.<\/i>
\n<\/span> brings together ten activists and NGO representatives from the Global South and North in order to illuminate different aspects of NGO structures, school partnerships, volunteering, and solidarity work. A theoretical introduction familiarises with the historical and political framework, and a checklist for reflection and practice allows readers to analyse and transform their own activities.<\/span><\/p>\n
