The National Socialist Underground<\/a> (NSU) murdered a total of 10 people in Germany between 2000 – 2007 for racist motives. Today, on July 11, 2018, the court verdict in the NSU trial<\/a> was read out after more than five years of trial: Beate Zsch\u00e4pe was sentenced to life imprisonment for ten counts of murder, with a finding of special seriousness of guilt. Neo-Nazi Andr\u00e9 Eminger is sent to prison for 2 years and 6 months for supporting a terrorist organization. Judge Manfred G\u00f6tzl ends the NSU trial to the cheers of neo-Nazis.<\/a><\/p>\n

For the relatives of the victims, for the attorneys for the civil defense, for civil society actors and for numerous people in Germany who are at the mercy of racist conditions, this verdict – like the entire NSU trial as a legal and social event – triggers outrage, sadness and anger. The initiative NSU-Watch write in their press release of 11.07.2018<\/a>: “This verdict is a slap in the face for the relatives of those murdered by the NSU and the survivors of the NSU terror.”<\/p>\n
