New release: Decolonize the City!

Interspace Collective (ed.)
On the Coloniality of the City – Talks | Negotiations | Perspectives
Decolonize the City! sees itself as a necessary intervention in the German-language debate on the ‘European city’. The authors call for an urban decolonization and ask about the everyday life and struggles of postcolonial migrants and people of color in the city from a perspective critical of racism and solidarity.

The focus is on the perspectives of those who are produced and read as simultaneously racialized, gendered, and sexualized ‘others’ – and who may or may not understand themselves that way. Among other things, it is about political practices of location, self-designation in the German/transnational context, or the relationship between the city and the location of racialized people and communities.

Last but not least, this anthology aims to contribute to a decolonizing knowledge production and to the archive of language in anti-racist struggles.
