Trivialization of the Shoah at Deutsche Bahn

As early as last October, Deutsche Bahn announced that it would name one of its new ICE 4 high-speed trains after Anne Frank. This decision has been widely discussed and has provoked different reactions, but has mostly been heavily criticized. The name suggestions had been collected in an open tender. The final decision was made by a jury of six PR and marketing experts, chaired by senior Group historian Susanne Kill. Continue reading

In the meantime, we have managed to complete the video documentation of the Conference “Self-determined and in solidarity! Conference on Migration, Development and Ecological Crisis”. to be completed in the form of some video recordings. You can find all the panels here. Photos can be found here and here. As an introduction, we especially recommend this short conference video with many impressions of the conference.

Return of cultural objects and human bones to Africa

In an open letter initiated by Berlin Postkolonal (also in English and French on the same page), many organizations, initiatives and individuals call on the German government to advocate for the restitution of ritual objects and human remains from colonial contexts of injustice. Conference on migration / overshadowed by racism by police

In Leipzig on Sunday the conference “Self-determined and in solidarity! Conference on Migration, Development and Ecological Crisis” ended in Leipzig on Sunday.

For three days, more than 700 participants from various social movements discussed in Leipzig’s “Westbad” the ways in which flight and migration are linked to the manifold ecological crises of our time and the prevailing ideas of social development. Participants included initiatives working on flight and migration, freedom of movement, climate, capitalism, agriculture and degrowth – many refugees and migrants were also involved. Self-determined and in solidarity! Decolonial perspectives on migration, development and ecological crisis.

Tomorrow, the activist conference Selbstbestimmt und solidarisch! organized by Afrique-Europe-Interact, Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie and glokal, among others, will begin in Leipzig. Even though there are unfortunately no more free places now, it might be worth taking a look at the program. And we’ll try to document as much as possible and make it available online.
